Chengdu is located in the western part of Sichuan Basin, in the hinterland of the Chengdu Plain. It has a flat terrain, crossing rivers, rich products and developed agriculture. It belongs to the subtropical monsoon humid climate and has long enjoyed a reputation as the "Land of Abundance".

Chengdu is a national historical and cultural city, the birthplace of ancient Shu civilization, and one of China's ten ancient capitals. Seven separatist regimes have established capitals here, and it was always being the county government, industry and commerce city and metropolis of each dynasty.

Chengdu is the national historical and cultural city, the best tourist city in China, and an outstanding tourist destination in the world. UNESCO has awarded Chengdu the title of "Creative Cities for Gastronomy". Chengdu has two world heritage sites and numerous historic sites and cultural landscapes, like Temple of Marquis, Du Fu's Thatched Cottage, Yongling Mausoleum, Wangjiang Pavilion, Qingyang Taoist Temple and Wenshu Monastery. Chengdu is also a habitat for giant pandas and has a famous giant panda base.
