Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is one of the major research bases for the Chinese government to implement ex-situ conservation projects for endangered wildlife such as giant pandas. It is a nationally renowned and even globally recognized giant panda research and breeding research institution. At present, the research base is available for tourists to visit giant pandas and to learn the knowledge of rare and endangered wildlife.

Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is located in the northern suburbs of Chengdu, Sichuan, China, about 10 kilometers away from the urban area. The site uses a gardening ritual to simulate the wild ecology environment of giant pandas. The giant panda delivery room, panda breeding area, scientific research center, and panda hospital are distributed in an orderly manner. A number of luxury panda "cottages" are scattered among the mountains. Giant pandas of different ages thrive and grow up here and enjoy an easiness life. Besides of giant pandas, the research base also breeding red pandas, black-necked cranes, white pelicans, white swans, black swans, storks, peacocks and other animals all year round. The base is surrounded by green bamboos and trees. The fresh air and wild scenery integrate with the artificial landscape. In the building and on the lawn, giant pandas can either lie or sit, eat or play, leaving an impressive scene to the visitors.

Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding also attracts Chinese and oversea celebrities to become the Giant Panda Ambassador, including former NBA player Yao Ming, action movie actor Jackie Chan and famous actor Lee Pace.
