Great Wall

The Great Wall, is a series of ancient Chinese military defensive projects. It is tall, strong, continuous and long-lasting wall that restricts the actions of the enemy. The Great Wall is not a merely isolated city wall, but a defense system that combines city walls, barriers, tower and marks.

The history of the construction of the Great Wall dates back to the Western Zhou Dynasty (1046BC-771BC). In the Spring and Autumn Period (770BC-746BC) and the Warring States period (453BC-221BC), as the nations competed and defended each other, the construction of the Great Wall entered the first climax, but at this time, the construction length was relatively short. After Qin defeated and reunited the six countries, Qin Shi Huang connected and repaired the Great Wall of Warring States. It was known as the Great Wall of China. The Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) was the last dynasty to build the Great Wall. The Great Wall that people saw today is mostly built at this time.

On March 4, 1961, the Great Wall was announced by the State Council as the first batch of national cultural relics protection units. In December 1987, the Great Wall was included in the World Cultural Heritage.
